Interesting article. It's fascinating and funny how computer technology progresses.
James Lileks, a news columnist and news ephemera Website owner, has a little section of his Web "museum" (http://www.lileks.com/institute/compupromo/index.html) with pictures from vintage mainframe computer advertisements, replete with his signature offbeat commentary. One depicted a Control Data 3500, and his final comment on it was: "Remember: your iPod has more storage capacity than everything in this room." :D

Good to know that these five things only apply to Apple.

Have you ever looked at the location file that saves on your PC? If so, can you tell me where iTunes saves it?
Thanks
I could be wrong but I think it's bundled within the backups from your iPhone. I've never seen this supposed file so I wouldn't know how to access it specifically. I'm sure someone else here might have some better info on this.

How are you plugging them in? If you can get the guitar to work, every thing else should. You should plug the line out from your keyboard to the audio inputs of your tascam. For the mic, it should go into the mic in.
As for returning it, it's not a bad idea. It sounds as though you just plugged things wrong if you can get it to record your guitar. But tascam interfaces are a pain in the ass. Really, I had the L version of the interface and it wouldn't work when I wanted it to. I had to reinstall the drivers countless times, plug and unplug it, restart my computer. And apparently, I'm not the only one to get all of those problem, there's a thread about in the board. They never release new drivers and usually the updates aren't that better. I just hope I can save you the trouble.

The best is to create a Wallpapers folder anywhere you want (preferably in the Images folder, situated in your User folder).
Then, just add it to the list in the preference pane (see attached pic).

Yea it sucks because this a unwarranted lawsuit and he has to get screwed in leagle fees. Sony knows it and they can care less they want to screw with him. On the other hand the state can provide him a lawyer, or he can represent himself because it is a fairly simple case. The fact that congress made jail breaking leagle, just makes the fact that this case shouldn't of been taken to court. All they should of done is went in front of a judge (like u would do with a parking ticket). It's absurd you would think it would be resolved already?

Now I'm wondering, they say the first 500 people there will get a free T-shirt, is that the first 500 that actually buy Leopard, or the first 500 that walk into the store? I ordered online, and because of the issues with not being sure whether MacMall is going to ship it and have it to me on Friday, I'm still teetering with cancelling the order, going to the store, buying it with my student discount and getting the free T-shirt.

I usually get my consoles straight from independent shops, or their suppliers. They're a bit cheaper and don't come with game bundles.
'Cept for when I bought my PSP. It cost 5 more ("um sorry we can't sell the console on its own"... d**ks!) but they foolishly bundled a brand new, AAA-tier game that I sold on for 20.
They can be good. Sometimes.

The next Mac Mini should be fine for that. If as hoped it gets a Sandy Bridge processor it'll make the MacBook Air look terribly slow in comparison for CPU intensive tasks, especially if you put a SSD in the Mini.
As for EyeTV, the current Mini isn't as powerful as many of us would like, but I find it to be adequate. Hopefully the refresh will correct this and allow smooth playing of live sport in HDTV using progressive scan.
I have EyeTV and two 2009 Minis and see no problems other than the motion problem inherent in 1080i video. Changing computers won't fix that problem.

most TVs don't include an audio in port for the HDMI.
you can use something like
this (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011405&p_id=5369&seq=1&format=2) - a dvi and digital audio combiner, that outputs HDMI.
and one of these (http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022902) toslink to mini cable to connect audio from your computer to the box.
and one of these (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10209&cs_id=1020901&p_id=2685&seq=1&format=2) dvi cables to connect your computer to the box.
you'll also need an HDMI male to male, to plug the box into your TV.
also look at your TV manual, or if you're using an external stereo that has digital inputs. the toslink to mini cable might come in handy.
FWIW, I use that specific box (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011405&p_id=5369&seq=1&format=2) referenced by waw74. Works just fine on my Mac Pro.

I'd just like give my impression of the SD300 to help Nesuser2.
I bought my SD300 this past summer, and it's been great. It's really a small camera, I can't say I've seen anything with as many features relative to its size and price. Pictures are great, and movies are very impressive with this camera (it can do 640x480 & 320x240@30fps & 15fps). However, you may need a high-speed card for multi-minute movies. My 1gb Sandisk Ultra II can take 8.5 minutes at highest quality. 320x240@15fps will give you 46 minutes of video. 1gb will give you about 500 highest quality pictures (4mp, Superfine res). 4mp and normal res will give you about 1700.
It's mostly metal (except for the card/battery door), and feels very solid. Quality is very good compared to similarly priced cameras.
You should really check out THIS REVIEW (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_sd300-review/) if you're at all interested.

Basically, I want to get an ibook, either refurb or used--just something cheap that will do internet (wireless), word processing, and that's about it. I have a biggger mac for storing music burning dvd's etc.
There's a nice ibook on the refurb page right now. My question: if I let this one pass will something else come up on that page pretty soon or is it a rare thing to find this kind of deal.
My reason for not buying now is because I did not plan to get something this soon, and money would be a tad bit tight to spring and get it right now. Should I spring for it now (aka credit card) or is it safe to wait for this deal to surface again?
Thanks for the reply BTW :)

The issue wasn't addressed in 4.3. Apple doesn't find it a problem. They did it on purpose. Is anyone working on a way to fix this? It seems that the reduction of power has to be a software control not a hardware control thus it should be able to be changed by someone with programming/jailbreak experience. Any help would be appreciated!
