I should think the faster CPU will have a much greater effect on performance than the GPU. GPU speed is really only relevant for games and video rendering.
Beyond this, no version of LR even uses hardware GPU acceleration, as far as I know.

You are so humorous. Of course what i want is a netbook not a bag.:p
I want to buy one online as I think it would be cheaper. What is your opinion?
Haha oh ok :)
Well yea you're on a Mac forum so you're going to get a lot of Mac replies... which IMO is all you need ;)
But seriously... if you want extreme portability a MBA will do great... the 13 inch ones are slim and have amazing battery life; if you're willing to get the 1.4/1.6ghz dual core instead of a 2.x one (dual), then you should be set. They all have the glass trackpad which is great as well.
Like I posted before though, I would suggest a MBP. They are still very portable and small in size compared to other laptops and have a performance (and build) increase compared to the regular, polycarbonate Macs.
What are you planning on doing with your computer? Where are you taking it? These things would help us out a lot :)

The most powerful PPC cards are the Nvidia 7800GT or ATI 1900XT. They are pretty much on par performance wise.
They require a PCIe slot, though, which I'm not sure your G5 has. Only the late 2005 models are equipped with this slot. All previous G5 models have a AGP slot, in which case you should settle with a Nvidia 6800 Ultra. However, if you can find one, a flashed PC 7800 for AGP (usually on ebay) will be your best bet.

I ran across this program the other day and have been using it. The speed of this version of firefox is much faster than safari or ff1.0. Here is a link to the site.

Hi all,
I invested in a D5000 about a year and a half ago to begin a new hobby. I was hoping to get opinions on if it would be worth it to try to make photography more than a hobby for me. I prefer nature, but would be willing to go for events maybe...I don't want to do portraits.
I've inserted some of my work from a photo camp below. Any advice/criticism would be greatly appreciated :-).

My 23" has the pink tint and I have heard a few people say theirs doesn't, but every one I have seen in person (in 3 different stores) has the tint.

I have never had a problem with Myspace in Safari. I have always had WMP installed, and I do get errors with WMP10 playlists. I'm also running on an TiBook 500, so if you are still having problems, I suggest installing WMP9, and resetting Safari.

My name is Billyboy and I'm a Macoholic. I love my Powerbook so much, but being a desktop replacement, I only get to touch it once in a while after installing new software. Sometimes I dont go to bed so I can use it. I tell all my PC friends about it, most of them don't get it. There is an old saying, about buying the best you can afford. That frightens me. I can afford about ten G5 dual 2Ghz, and I am afraid I will go out, get some Infiniband from the Infiniband shop and have the most powerful computer set up in my neighbourhood. Help me, the iPodmini is due out in a couple of months, I need to not buy one. I need to buy more shares in AAPL because they are going to skyrocket. I may be in a position to stage a takeover, but Im no Steve Jobs. Would he work for me? This is insane. I used to be so unproductive with a PC, but now I finish my work by 3 in the afternoon and have nothing to do but create movies, slideshows, and hit records. Help.

I have the Very Busy Man, although I've since found I prefer McBain's Lovechild (another Crumpler bag). The VBM is very large - the laptop pouch alone is likely big enough to hold a 17" Powerbook (I've got a 15" PB).
The problem I found with having a big bag is that I found myself carrying too much unnecessary junk around just because I could, which of course meant an unnecessarilly heavy load. I'm much happier with the McBains because it forces me to think about what I really need to bring along and what I can do without.
However if you actually need all that stuff, then the VBM is a great bag. Crumpler bags all seem to be very well constructed, very protective of your computer, and they look cool to boot.
In the US there are resellers such as ebags.com (http://www.ebags.com) and bagyou.com (http://www.bagyou.com) - they tend to be cheaper than Crumpler's USA prices. I've bought from both, and am a happy customer.
Edit: My good experiences with Crumpler computer bags convinced me to try out one of their camera bags when I was in the market for a new one. I must say I love my Budgie Smuggler - it's as well made and well thought out as their computer bags.

I can't comment on the HD650 with a macbook pro personally, as I do not exactly have one. Of the few times I've tried it out, it was at a friend's and at local music stores. I'm an audio technica kind of guy, so I tend to stick to their products. I know the lower impedance audio techncia cans sound pretty good on my brother's macbook pro and my iMac via their intel hd integrated card and headphone jack.

I think theres a reason :apple: didnt notify the new iMac owners for 10.6.7 update, unlike in the new Macbook Pro
Its because all 2011 iMac will be eligilbe for upgrade to Lion for free, or at least with discount, maybe $29 only via Mac App Store so they can directly check who eligible for one and whos not. If you want to get the shiny retail box, it may cost $129.
That should be it .. so I wouldnt worry too much about Lion, lets hope Im not wrong okay :D

Don't get me wrong, I really love my Mac, and the aesthetics of it. The hardware is enough for my needs, and overall I would be happy...
Problem is I have had nothing but trouble with SL. Every application I have seems to have crashed at least one point in time. I never really had a problem with Leopard and, Leopard is what convinced me to switch to the Mac OS in the first place. However, now, I'm contemplating switching back to Windows (rather, using BootCamp full time).
It doesn't seem to matter if I use a different hard drive, swap out ram, etc. None of the problems I have are hardware based. It's all software.
I'm really just curious to see how many people feel the same way about Snow Leopard. In fact, the experiences I've had remind me of Windows XP. Nothing really wrong with any of my hardware. It's just none of my software seems stable.
I'm really hoping Lion turns out good though.

Apparently its real and coming soon enough, it will be interesting to see how RE4 plays on the Wii but it is a little bit disappointing to see yet another Cube port. Still for those who missed it on Cube and PS2 they are in for a hell of a ride and even the RE4 vets might like to give it yet another go :).
Oh and this line really made me giggle:
"The producers of the Wii version revealed to Famitsu that one of their goals is to allow families who play the Wii together to experience Resident Evil. The game will include "Easy" and "Amateur" difficulty settings, selectable from the start, that will make aiming easier and keep your life from depleting too fast."
Putting an easy mode so the whole family can play? Isn't this an M-Rated game with tons of gore, horror and inappropriate content for minors and unappealing content for other family members? Heck, Nintendo might be taking the whole "family" thing (which I think is downright ridiculous) too far.
Sorry I just realized this is already in another thread :o

I've been trying to load a pwnagetool cooked version of the iPad 4.3 GM, but whenever I try to actually load the firmware via itunes I get an error 1 that pops up as soon as the white apple logo appears on the iPad. This is both in recovery mode and DFU mode. I've tried this with both windows and mac version of the program with no success. Can anyone shed any light? I also tried pwn'd dfu mode with iREB and get the same result.

I'm so glad that "Are you sure" is built into 10.2. I must have hit Restart instead of Shutdown, or Restart instead of Sleep, at least 20 times in 10.1, and at least another 10 times in 10.2. This feature has saved me at least 30 minutes in computer usage and about $60 in hard Pro Mouse ass-kicking.
